The County Fair Project
Growing up in rural Wisconsin, the county agricultural fair every year wasn't just a week-long influx of mini donuts and Tilt-a-Whirl rides. It was a celebration of the many talents of the communities many farmers, homemakers, and 4-Hers.

Canned tomatoes, hand stitched quilts, and a pig so perfect you half expect a spider to write a superlative above its pen. All signs of the quintessential county fair. Yet over the years, and despite the popularity of homesteading and urban farming, county fair participation in rural areas is dwindling.

I started The County Fair Project to document the people and the traditions that are so essential to the fabric of rural America.
